San Francisco Girls Chorus prepares girls and young women from diverse backgrounds for success, on stage and in life, through rigorous, empowering music education, and enriches Bay Area cultural life through innovative vocal performance. The vision of the San Francisco Girls Chorus is to produce performances of the highest artistic caliber; to provide music education for girls and young women from all ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds; to be a leader in the field through creativity and innovation; to give the girls and young women who participate in Chorus programs the skills, self-discipline and confidence to succeed in music and in life; and to instill in the choristers a lifelong love of music; and to communicate this passion through involvement with the greater community.

Philosophy
How they teach
The San Francisco Girls Chorus is proud to offer a comprehensive music education and performance program for singers ages 4-18. We offer rehearsals in San Francisco at the Kanbar Performing Arts Center and in Emeryville at the East Bay German International School.
Outcomes
Where students go
San Francisco Girls Chorus alumnae have gone on to attend prestigious universities such as Stanford and Juilliard. The chorus has received multiple Grammy Awards and has performed at renowned venues worldwide.

Recognizing the unique opportunities for personal growth which are inherent in a residence camp experience, the Chorus holds a Music Camp each summer. Choristers are involved in a rigorous music program interspersed with recreational activities that the choristers look forward to every year.

Host your rehearsal, board meeting, special event, or business retreat at the Kanbar Performing Arts Center (KPAC). Located at 44 Page Street in San Francisco’s vibrant Civic Center/Hayes Valley neighborhood, we offer multiple spaces of varying sizes available for short-term and recurring rentals.

SFGC is proud to offer tuition assistance for our regular school-year programming, made possible by the Elizabeth Avakian Scholarship Fund. Our Tuition Assistance Application for the 2026-27 school year will be open from March – April 2026.
